EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS AVAILBLE
Junior Lifeguard Instructors and Surf Instructors are hired each spring for summer seasonal work. You will be working as an instructor at one of our programs. We have programs in both north and south Orange County, at Sunset Beach (north end of Huntington State Beach), Newland Street at Huntington State Beach, Newport Dunes Marina And Resort, and at Salt Creek (Laguna Niguel).
A summer job at the beach is an experience that you will cherish forever. Working with today’s youth is such a rewarding job and builds some outstanding job related and life experience for your future. You will gain so much by working in this environment that you may never want to leave!

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Safely supervise campers in the beach environment and teach all instructional material provided by the employer. Instructors will be teaching, motivating, leading and inspiring the participants in their groups in a variety of activities related to the ocean. All applicants should have a love for the ocean and the outdoors!

All applicants interested in instructor positions must be at least 18 years of age!
Those that are interested in learning the trade of being an instructor at the beach who are 16 or 17 years of age can apply for an internship position. Both positions are applied for in the same manner.
All persons in employment shall be mature in handling the supervision of the participants. All applicants should have a decent level of physical fitness and beach related skills, such as swimming, paddling, and other ocean sports. Ocean safety knowledge is a plus for all instructors, and teaching skills are also a big benefit.

Applications are being accepted until the positions are filled. To allow for proper processing and attend necessary training sessions provided by CAJG, please turn in applications by the 2nd Week of April. TRYOUT INFORMATION
Where: Tryout are held at Sunset Beach (Warner Ave. and PCH).
When: Attend on of two tryouts: Saturday, April 19th OR Sunday, April 27th at 8:00 AM Sharp!
Who: All interested applicants for either internship or instructor positions.
What: Tryouts consist of an ocean swim of about 800 yards and a Run-Swim-Run; Candidates are judged on the strength of their physical abilities in finishing the events. Wetsuits are optional.
Details: Tryouts begin promptly at 8:00 AM. Please arrive at 7:45 to complete paperwork. Upon completion of your tryout, you will be given a time and location for an interview to take place later that morning.
Interview: Interviews are casual attire. Feel free to bring anything to the interview that helps to explain your qualifications such as a resume.

TRAINING DETAILS
Those persons, who are accepted into the training portion of the hiring process, shall be trained by the CAJG staff as a Lifeguard. Acceptance is based on the tryout and interview. The Lifeguard Training is an extensive course which includes aspects of First-aid, CPR, and Lifesaving Skills and is an American Red Cross Certification. This is the essential certification for any lifeguarding job. It is normally a very expensive course, but is offered to potential employees free of cost by CAJG.

TRAINING DATES
Beach training dates:
#1- Saturday, May 17th 8:15 AM – 2:00 PM or #2- Wednesday, June 11th 8:15 AM – 2:00 PM
Office training dates:
#3- Sunday, May 18th 8:15 AM – 12:30 PM or #4- Thursday, June 12th 8:15 AM – 12:30 PM

After this portion of training, applicants will be notified if they will be offered a job. If the applicant accepts the position, they will be asked to complete some other aspects of training with the current staff of instructors to properly prepare for the job ahead!
