Lifeguard We, here at the California Junior Lifeguard Programs, take great care to have a wide assortment of equipment available for our participants. Each year we make a sizeable investment in new equipment for use in our programs including, surfboards, bodyboards, paddleboards, rescue equipment, and educational equipment. This helps insure that all of our participants have access to the necessary items to make there time with us as enjoyable and safe as possible.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

In addition to the equipment provided at the program, each participant is required to bring the following equipment on a daily basis.
  • Junior Lifeguard Uniform
  • Protective footwear
  • Surf-style swim fins
    (not scuba or snorkeling fins)
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Sun hat or uniform ball cap
  • Sunglasses

FOOD AND BEVERAGES

JG Photo 6-03 Participants are not permitted to leave the program site, except when accompanied by a parent or guardian, from 9:00am until 3:00pm. This includes going to the snack-bar for snacks or lunch. So all participants should bring the following food and beverages.
  • Morning snack items
  • Nutritional lunch
    (Quality items from all food groups)
  • Afternoon snack items
  • Plenty of water and other fluids
Care should be taken in the packing of these items to guard against possible food spoilage or contamination.

PERSONAL EQUIPMENT

Participants are encouraged to bring additional personal equipment to enrich their summer experience. The following is a list of suggested items that may be brought.
  • Bodyboards
  • Wet suit
  • Rash-guard
  • Fanny packs
  • Equipment bag
Although we would like to offer storage, all personal items must be taken home at night. In the case that storage is approved on an emergency basis, the California Junior Lifeguard Programs Inc. is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items. All Items should be permanently marked for easy identification.
